Venice Area Audubon Center

VAAS web site

The Venice Audubon society serves the communities of South Sarasota County, Venice, Englewood, North Port, Osprey and Nokomis.

The society has a beautiful facility on US 41 South just north of Jackaranda Blvd in south Venice. The facility as well as the rookery is staffed by volunteers 7 days a week during the season. Those interested individuals interested in volunteering a day or so a month may inquire at 941-496-8984.

The rookery is in the miidle of a small pond just beyond the facility. Great Blue Herons, Great White Egrets, Night Herons and Anhingas all mate and raise their young here. Much can be seen with the naked eye but binoculars are best.

I was asked by the Venice Audubon to supply wildlife photography for the facility. I did so about 2 years ago with the intent to market my photography as well as help contribute to their financial well-being. I have supplied VAAS with large framed Giclee prints and 8x10, 11 x 14 and 16 x 20 packaged photos. A percentage from the sales of these items help defray the financial costs of maintaining the facility.

Please click over to their site to gather more information on their activities.
